I once asked my dad who were parents of lord Shiva. Though the answer he gave was not convincing for me when I was kid. But now when I start to interpret lord Shiva in a very subtle way, which he is by himself it started making sense or at least it sounded like why there was such an explanation for his origin. First let us understand what the Hindu mythology wants to say about his birth. There are actually many versions of it. But I would like to quote the popular version. ಅವರು ಯತ್ನಿಸಿದರು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೊಡೆದೋಡಿಸಲು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಟ್ಟಿಹಾಕಿ , ಬೆನ್ನ ಮುರಿದು ಮೂಲೆಗೆ ಕೂರಿಸಲು , ನಿನ್ನ ಬದಿಗಿಟ್ಟು , ಕೈಕಾಲ ಕಡಿದು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಕಾಣದಂತೆ ಓಡಿಹೂಗಲು ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಗ...! ಅದೆಷ್ಟೇ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿದರೂ , ಹಿಂದೆ ತಿರುಗಿದೊಡೆ ನೀ ಕಾಣುವೆ ಅದೆಷ್ಟೇ ದೂರ ದಾಟಿದರೂ , ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ನೀನಿರುವೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಂಪು ಕಣ್ಣಲಿ ಕಣ್ಣಿಟ್ಟು ನೋಡಲು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಮೈ ನಡುಕ ಇತರೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳ ಗುಂಡಿಟ್ಟು ಕೊಂದಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲಾರರು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೊಂದರೆ ಅವರೂ ಉಳಿಯರು ಏಕೆಂದರೆ , ಅವರಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀನಿಲ್ಲ ವೇಷ ಬಳಿದು ಸೋಗು ಹಾಕಿ ಜಗಕೆ ತೋರುವ ಮುಖ ಅವರಾದರೆ ವೇಷವಳಿಸಿ ಸೋಗ ಸರಿಸಿ ನಿಜ ತೋರುವ ಮೊಗ ನೀನು ಹೆದರದಿರು ನಿನಗೇನೂ ಆಗದು ಎಲ್ಲಿವರೆಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ದೂಡುವುದ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದ ಕಲಿಯರೋ , ಅಲ್ಲಿವರೆಗೂ ನಿನ್ನನೇನೂ ಮಾಡಲಾರರು ಏಕೆಂದರೆ , ನೀನಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರಿಲ್ಲ -ಬುರುಡೆದಾಸ
